A really good laugh!

God is always so good.

Well, the Xanga folks told me that I couldn't sign in because they quit using Mac's Internet Explorer! Go figure.

But this morning God answered my heart's prayer. I have been feeling inadequate (and that's putting it mildly) to teach .... well, anything. In the group I lead on Tuesday nights as well as my Sunday School class I felt like the lessons were a struggle because I'm oh-so-imperfect. So this morning I read my portion of Leviticus for my through-the-Bible-in-a-year scripture. (God was really serious about the worship of the people!) Then I read a portion about wisdom in Proverbs and in 1 Corinthians 1(for the second time today. Emily and I read it earlier). Then I read a bit of Psalms and thought, well, I best get to reading on the last couple of chapters of Romans to start thinking about Sunday School class (as is my habit). I read it through and got some amazing ideas for lessons over the next couple of weeks. Then after praying for awhile, I felt God prompting me to re-read the beginning of the passage in Romans 15 again. Verse 14 popped off the page: "I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another." Tears began to flow down my face. God is so good. He brings the comfort of His Word through the Holy Spirit when we need it.

Anyway, here are some of cool pictures I was talking about in S.S. yesterday.

so much from God

With the family home last weekend and with all that was going on, I hadn’t had a lot of time to get alone with God, but I had been constantly praying for a word. Monday morning (day 3 of my fast) I sat down to my devotions. As I opened my Bible I meant to turn to the passage in Psalm 1 that Ben Lyons had read in Sunday school about the tree planted by the stream. I turned accidentally to Proverbs 1. Words began to jump off the page for me. Wisdom. Prudence. Understanding. Knowledge. Discretion. Counsel. Sound judgement. Power. God spoke to me and said, “This is what you need to heed.” For the next hour or so I scoured the Bible for verses about wisdom.

Monday night at our Vineyard kinship group several people “had a word” and shared what I think were spoken to me. Sue shared the passage in Hebrews 12:1.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Her sharing focused on the fact that God HAS THE RACE MARKED OUT FOR US. I know the way. I just need to pay attention, listen and heed the way of wisdom.

At the Renovare conference (Richard Foster) God continued to speak into my heart. I feel like the Alanis Morissette song:

I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind oh
And I lift the envelope pushed far enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne

God just keeps revealing Himself. It's a wonderment.

I love these two pics:

What a day. I keep trying to submit myself to our Lord. But I keep putting my little clay hands on my clay hips and talkin' back. (Romans 9:21) Sigh. When will I ever learn? I thank God for His awesome grip of grace!

Oh yeah, Matthew, here's the cool pic of you and Josiah's friend.

And here's my little pixie!
